The reptile nation has been the focus of many proposed state and federal laws that aim to regulate the sale and possession of reptiles. Many of these laws are targeting individual rights to keep pets. USARK has successfully fought and continues to fight any and all regulations or rule changes that compromise our individual freedoms to keep pets. USARK is a grassroots non-profit organization that has the support of Zoo Med Labs, Inc. Zoo Med is a major sponsor of USARK, and has established a ‘dollar for dollar’ matching program. This means, each dollar raised by USARK is matched by Zoo Med Labs up to $100,000 in the year 2010!
Did you know that the reptile industry is the smallest segment of the pet industry (and the fastest growing) yet has representation and a voice in Washington D.C?
Representation in the nation’s capitol specific to the issues concerning the reptile nation has been accomplished by the hard-working grassroots movement spearheaded by USARK!
Please visit www.USARK.org for more information and to find out how you can get involved! It is up to you to defend your rights!
Come visit both Zoo Med and USARK at major reptile shows across the country. Visit our “
Show Page” to see a list of reptile shows Zoo Med will be attending.
USARK Mission Statement:
The United States Association of Reptile Keepers (USARK) is a science and education based advocacy organization for the responsible private ownership of, and trade in reptiles. USARK endorses caging standards, sound husbandry, escape prevention protocols, and an integrated approach to vital conservation issues. The primary goal is to facilitate cooperation between government agencies, the scientific community, and the private sector in order to produce policy proposals that will effectively address important husbandry and conservation issues. The health of these animals, public safety, and maintaining ecological integrity are our primary concerns.
